SECOND CHERRY BLOSSOM FORECAST

Weathernews announced the “Second Cherry Blossom Bloom Forecast” on February 1, 2024. Cherry blossoms in 2024 are expected to bloom earlier than normal in Kanto-Koshin, Hokuriku, and northern Japan and to be near normal in Kyushu to Tokai. The top flowering spot will be Tokyo on March 20th, followed by Fukuoka on March 21st. Some revisions have been made to the initial forecast.

It will bloom in western Japan, eastern Japan, and southern Tohoku in late March, and will begin to bloom in northern Tohoku in early April. A cherry blossom front is expected to make landfall in Hokkaido in mid-April. Although the trend of high temperatures will continue to encourage cherry blossom growth, in March there will be many cloudy and rainy days in western and eastern Japan, and growth is expected to slow down just before blooming.

Regarding the blooming of each famous place, Ueno Park (Tokyo) will be on March 21st, Kumamoto Castle (Kumamoto Prefecture) will be on March 22nd, Peace Memorial Park (Hiroshima Prefecture) will be on March 26th and Arashiyama (Kyoto Prefecture) is expected to be on March 26th.
