RESTRICTIONS ON COLOR CODING LIFTED FROM THE 30TH TO THE 2ND OF NEXT MONTH

The Metropolitan Manila Development Authority (MMDA) announced on the 23rd that the vehicle-end coding (color coding) in the metropolitan area will be lifted from October 30th, when barangay elections are held, until November 2nd, covering the All Saints’ Day period, excluding the 31st.

Many residents take extended vacations during this time, and it is expected that the roads in the metropolitan area, except around cemeteries, will be free from traffic jams. Romando Artes, the acting head of the agency, revealed that despite the lifting of vehicle-end coding, 1,448 staff members will be deployed on major roads in the metropolitan area.

All Saints’ Day and All Souls’ Day (November 2nd) coincide with the Philippines’ observance of All Saints’ Day, leading to an increase in visitors to cemeteries nationwide, necessitating security measures on roads surrounding cemeteries. This was reported by The Manila Times, an English-language newspaper, on the 23rd.
