Fukuoka Airport is set to undergo significant enhancements, as announced during a press conference held by the operating company on the 28th.

Plans include a substantial expansion of international routes, aiming to increase from the current 23 routes mainly serving Asia, to 38 routes by 2028. In addition to ongoing negotiations with European cities, the airport intends to introduce flights to mainland cities on existing American routes, which previously only connected to Hawaii and Guam. Furthermore, the completion of the domestic flight complex, featuring a hotel and commercial facilities, is anticipated by fiscal 2026, with the ambitious goal of achieving a “5 Star Airport” certification, the highest level globally.
