On December 5, 2023, Kansai Airports opened a new international departure area in the Kansai International Airport Terminal 1 building, which is currently under renovation.

In the new international departure area, the north and south immigration checkpoints are centrally located, allowing for smooth departure procedures. In addition, a total of 27 stores have been opened, including a walk-through duty-free store and the central plaza area, including 9 restaurants, 7 retail stores, 1 duty-free store, 9 boutiques, and 1 service store.

On the day of the event, the aim is to have a grand opening in the spring of 2025 with the completion of the main functions, and to expand the new international commercial facility area in the fall of 2026.
