What is inverted fuji or sakasa fuji?

“Sakasa Fuji‘‘ is a sight that Mt.Fuji is reflected sharply upside down, reflected on the surface like a mirror.  It can be seen not only on the surface of the Fuji Five Lakes, but also from Lake Tanuki at the foot of the mountain on the Shizuoka side and as far away as Lake Ashi in Hakone. However, the conditions under which Sakasa Fuji can be seen are limited, so it cannot be seen at any time. For this reason, It said to bring good luck when seen. In addition, a photograph of inverted Fuji taken from Lake Motosu in the early Showa period was titled “Spring by the Lake” and became popular, and was later adopted as the back design of the 1,000 yen and 5,000 yen bills.

In order to see the Inverted Mt.fuji, the weather conditions must be just right. It must be sunny sometimes it can be seen also even on cloudy days if the weather conditions is good. Another conditions must be no wind. The calmer the water surface reflecting mt.fuji, the more beautiful sakasa fuji will be. It is best seen early in the morning or during winter.

The combination of the surrounding scenery and the upside-down Fuji will change depending on your location around the lakeside.
