In response to the Noto Peninsula Earthquake that occurred in January 2024, the government is considering implementing the “Hokuriku Ouenwari”, which will offer a 50% discount on travel costs up to 20,000 yen per person per night.

On January 1, 2024, the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, a magnitude 7.6 earthquake, occurred with its epicenter on the Noto Peninsula in Ishikawa Prefecture. The tourism industry was also severely affected by the earthquake.

“Hokuriku Ouenwari” is a program to support the tourism industry, which was severely affected by the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, by offering a 50% discount on travel costs per person per night up to 20,000 yen. This is a tourism support measure.

In response to the Noto Peninsula Earthquake, the government put together an emergency support package called the “Life and Livelihood Support Package” aimed at rebuilding victims. Among these, the implementation of the Hokuriku Support Discount, a tourism support measure, is being considered.

Prime Minister Kishida plans to allocate more than 100 billion yen in contingency funds to this “life and livelihood support package.” We will update the article as soon as the details of “Hokuriku Support Discount” are announced.
