PHILIPPINES ANNOUNCES REMOVAL OF SEA OBSTACLES IN SOUTH CHINA SEA
Tension has arisen after the removal of the floating obstacle in the South China Sea that is preventing the Filipino fisherman’s boats from navigating and sailing in the disputed Scarborough shoal. The obstruction was discovered on September 22 during a patrol.
The removal of the obstruction was under the order of President Bongbong Marcos, according to the Philippine coast guard.
During a routine press conference on the 25th, Japan’s Chief Cabinet Secretary Hirokazu Matsuno emphasized that the South China Sea matter has a direct bearing on the peace and stability of the region. He expressed firm opposition to any actions that escalate tensions in that area.
